Marcus de la Fleur of the Conservation Design Forum has transformed his Elmhurst, IL home into a virtual watershed friendly landscaping demonstration site. Visit the porous pavement and gravel grass sections of his web site for more information on the these two types of permeable hardscaping practices that he used on his property. These web pages include information on design (with schematics) and photos. He's also posted several videos on these pages. One video illustrates how easy it is to shovel snow off of the smooth, even surface of the porous pavement. The other video shows how springtime meltwater infiltrates porous pavement while flooding over cast pavement.
