Marcus de la Fleur of the Conservation Design Forum has transformed his home into a virtual watershed friendly landscaping demonstration site. Mr. de la Fleur's property has three interconnected rain barrels and a cistern.

Chicago Center for Green Technology (CCGT)

Rather than using the typical 60-gallon rain barrels to collect and store rain water, CCGT installed four 12,000-gallon cisterns on their property. The water collected in the cisterns is used to irrigate the landscaping during dry periods. Rain water that is not collected by the green roof or in the cisterns flows directly onto the landscape via disconnected downspouts.

CCGT is the third building in the United States to be designed using the highest standards of green technology available. Visitors are welcome to explore the public areas of the building and campus. Brochures for self-guided tours are available at the building.
